Read Your Aligner Pack Correctly

Your Smilepath box contains all the aligners required for your treatment, along with a complimentary set of retainers to help preserve your results after treatment.

Each aligner pouch is clearly labeled with:

  • Your name
  • Case number
  • Treatment step number
  • Upper tray (U) or Lower tray (L)

These labels make it easy to stay on track and switch aligners at the right time.

A Quick Note:

If a step comes with just one aligner, that's completely normal. Some teeth move into place sooner than others.

Next, Here’s How to Wear Aligners

Check the Tray

Ensure you've selected the right tray corresponding to your upper or lower arch (See the label).

Insert With Care

Position the aligner over your front teeth first.

Using gentle pressure from your fingertips, seat the aligner into place.

Work gradually toward the back teeth until the aligner fits snugly.

Never bite down to force an aligner into position, as this may damage it.

Use the Chewies

Gently biting on your chewies helps close small gaps, giving your aligners a snug, secure fit.

Having Trouble with the Fit?

A snug fit is normal. If your aligner feels too painful or won't sit properly, remove it and reach out to us.

How to Care for

Follow Your Wear Schedule

Aligner treatment works best only when you follow your personalized wear schedule properly.

Daily Wear Requirements

Depending on your treatment type, you'll receive either:

  • Day Aligners worn approximately 20-22 hours per day

  • Night Aligners worn approximately 8-10 hours per night

Stick to the recommended wear time outlined in your treatment plan and on each aligner packet.

When to Switch Sets

Your aligner packets tell you exactly how long to wear each set, which may be 7, 10, 12, or more days depending on your plan.

Helpful Tip

Switch to a new set before bed to make the first few hours of tightness feel more comfortable.

Frequently Asked Questions

Read More FAQs
How do clear aligners work?

Clear aligners gradually move teeth by applying controlled pressure at each stage of treatment. Every new aligner is designed to continue the movement started by the previous set.

How long does treatment usually take?

Treatment time varies from person to person. Mild to moderate cases may be completed within 4–6 months.

Can I eat or drink while wearing aligners?

No. Aligners should be removed before eating or drinking anything except water. This helps prevent staining, warping, or damage.

When should I switch to my next aligner?

Most patients wear each set for 10 days before progressing to the next stage of treatment. Always follow the instructions included with your treatment plan.

What happens if I don't wear my aligners enough?

Not meeting the recommended wear time can delay tooth movement and affect your treatment progress. Consistent wear is essential for achieving the desired results.
